I had the pleasure of talking with students at a nearby school a couple of weeks ago. The kids asked great questions, some of which I’ve never been asked before. One that I especially loved:
Q: Do you like to read dictionaries?
A: (Startled gape. Then growing excitement.) Yes. Yes, I do, I always did! When I was home sick from school as a kid I used to browse through our World Book Encyclopedias. How did you know?
What I didn’t ask and wish I would have: Do you? Do you like to read dictionaries too?
I love talking to students. They always inspire and invigorate me. Many thanks to Three Lakes Academy in Curtis, Michigan for the invitation.
